Trying New Camera settings

This morning we awoke to a lovely sunny day...

I was pleased about that because I wanted to try out some new settings on my camera.
Glenn bought me the Cannon 400D - ( my first ever brand new camera) for our 30th wedding anniversary 10th March 2009 which was 4 years ago " Tempest Fugit" when your having FUN.

To cut the story short in that winter I slipped on ice and badly damaged my shoulder I was for the next 18 months unable to carry the camera around and had to use my phone which had an 8 mega pixels Carl Zies lens so it wasn't all bad news.

Thanks to Mike Bell a physio in Scarborough, I was on the mend and eventually managed the camera again. Only to have another 2 falls one on beach "I tripped over the rocks and again in the snow". now I was in trouble another 2 years of treatment and severe pain, lucky for me that's all behind me now.
 I am at last enjoying the camera that I so love, beginning to be brave enough to leave the auto settings and learn what she can do.

We had an open studio at the weekend ,Nicky Busby, Tony Bentley and John Earnshaw came to visit us to give there support... John very kindly showed me some setting to use on  the camera, which I tried out this morning and am delighted to see how I can now get to grips with my camera at last! .

So off we walked on the cliff tops from our house at Sewerby to Danes Dyke.
I took loads of Images and am pleased with a few.
Now I cant wait to get a tripod and get down to the harbor

Sunshine Sand & Spectacular Skies

We awoke to a glorious day and after a nice cup of coffee set of for a walk on the beach.
I have to say "Although it is October the temperature was most comfortable"...

I wasn't prepared for the beautiful sky that greeted my camera this morning.
I cant ever remember seeing a sky quite like it. It was as if the horizon had been split in two, thick heavy cloud on one side, and blue, blue sky on the other.

I took my shot and thought that was it. I played a little throw and catch with Bonnie while walking down to the beach. It was a very pleasant morning, and I was looking forward to my kippers when we got back.

 Every where I looked there was a wonderful scene. I took over 88 photo's. I didn't have my camera  with me AGAIN! BUT I am so pleased that I always choose my phone for its camera and love this Galaxy  S3.

 As I looked back to take the view towards Bridlington I noticed the footprints Glenn and had made and it reminded me of a poem I once read...

                       I remembered this and it made me smile so I thought I would share it with you!

 The excitement of the first sale -

I held my first public display of work at Burton Agnes court yard gallery in May 2005.
Glenn and I had the gallery for two weeks and that's when - I made my very first sale.

This was a photograph taken through my cottage door at Skelton York I loved the leaves and the colours.
It must have been appreciated by the lady who bought it as she brought her friend back to the opening of Gallery 49 in December 2005 and she bought another version of it! I managed Gallery 49 in the Old Town Bridlington for about a year and Glenn had his studio in the back of the building, we loved it and went on to open our own studio gallery in 2007 and moved here to live in Sewerby 2008...

"Myriads Of Angels"

    

It was while I was working at Gallery 49 and I had access to Photoshop 7 which was installed on the computer. I had only used star office a free program up until that time. I began to experiment and develop my own way of doing things I never was a good pupil so had to learn te hard way.

I created "Myriads of angels"  from the photograph of  "through the glass door" I don't really know what I did to get it up to this day I cannot do it again but I fond it very exciting and went on to create many Images which have sold on Canvas and under glass since.

I will always remember Burton Agnes Hall and Gallery 49 with great fondness as they were the beginning of my career as photographer, and gave me the confidence to submit my work in October 2005 to the prestigious Leeds Fine Art Club. I was amazed to be excepted as there very first exhibiting photographer.

 So we decided to take a trip to Falling Foss one of our favorite places we go often with the dog...

 We were so pleased when somebody finally bought "Old Midge Hall"  which had remained derelict for many years, now is an Integral part of our walks. Offering all walkers a place to eat, drink, and loo call.

 Yesterday we decided instead of walking our usual route -  down to the hermits cave and back up through the ravine.. We would skirt the top of the river through the woods via May beck and back by the river to Midge hall.

 It took us much longer than most due to Glenn's knees ( he is hopeless going down ) and my M.E     ( I am even more hopeless climbing hills)  However we determined many year ago not to let our disability's spoil our fun and soldier on regardless.

It was a warm sunny day as promised by Mr John Mitchel ( YTV Calender weather man) Thank you John!
We all had a wonderful afternoon and got back in time for fish and chips from our local Sewerby fish shop.
